COLUMBUS OVI CHECKPOINTS - JULY 8, 2016
Following a busy holiday weekend without any announced checkpoints, there will be an OVI checkpoint tonight.
Columbus Police have announced that they will be operating a checkpoint at 1818 W. Broad St. at the intersection of W. Broad St. and I-70. It will run from 9:00 p.m. on July 8 until 3:00 a.m. on July 9 and will be named in honor of Officer Keith Evans, who died six days after he was struck by a drunk driver after Red, White & BOOM! on July 3, 1995.
The safest way to avoid an OVI charge is simply to not drink and drive. However, if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being pulled over after drinking, remember that you are not required to submit to any of the tests, even field sobriety tests. If you get pulled over, be polite to the officers and tell them that you would like to call one of the experienced OVI attorneys at Wolfe Van Wey & Associates before answering any questions.
